Remember When...?

we were growing up and everything was so modern and new?
Well how come everything we used and had is now called "Retro" and "Vintage"?

Are we old, are the products old, or are things better.
You decide.

So Remember when.....

Our parents and grandparents use to collect S&H green stamps and trade them in for products in the S&H catalog. In the 1960's, the catalog printed by the company was the largest publication in the United States and the company issued 3 times a many stamps as the US Post Office. Stamps could be received at grocery stores, department stores and gas stations. The company was sold in 1981 due to recession in the 70's and decreased sales.

when tabs on cans were easier to pop without breaking a fingernail?

when gum came in wrappers that you could then fold into miles and miles of chain?

when Bean Bag Chairs were considered "fancy furniture"?

when watching "Mutual Of Omaha's Wild Kingdom with you host Marlin Perkins" with granddaddy every Sunday night was fun?

when this.......

and these were the real toys that we got when we opened a box of Cracker Jacks?

when getting ice out of an ice tray involved the skin on your fingers sticking to the metal tray and lifting the lever usually caused the ice cubes to shatter?

when it was so fun to sit on the couch at grandmommas and getting the new McCall's magazine and cutting out the Betsy McCall paper dolls?

when mom would be in the kitchen cleaning and we could smell the Jubilee wax she was using?

when our very first deodorant was MUM?

when mom would use nothing but Herbal Essence Shampoo?

when we would sneak mom's Ayd's candy because we thought they were real candy and were so good?

when mom had the cutest baby blue princess phone in her bedroom?

and finally when grandmomma made me a bikini bathing suit from McCall's pattern 5025 in the prettiest pink, purple and black fabric. I loved that bathing suit!
