It's almost spring and Katrina over a Callapidder Days is hosting The Spring Reading Challenge. This is your chance to finally read that book you've been meaning to get to. Go on over and check it out. I can't wait to get started.

Well I think the Blog Party was just so much fun and I met so many new people. I want to thank everyone who visited my party this past week and hope that you will come again. I won a fabulous book from Kailani over at An Island Life. She had a drawing a day for books and I was the first winner drawn. I chose "An Undomestic Goddess" by Sophia Kinsella. I can't wait to get started on it. Thank you Kailani!

I joined paperbackswap.com and have already got two books on the way. I am so excited about this web site. Mimi and I are keeping a list this year of all the books we read and at the end of the year we will compare notes. She thinks she can read more than me but we will see. I am just glad she is willing to read and hopefully will improve on it.

Right now we are focusing mainly on her math. We've backed up a little and are reviewing. In English we are doing review of punctuation and grammar. I don't want to go on to the next grade until I know for sure she is ready. I just feel like she has not had consistent learning in any one subject. Before I took her out for homeschooling, everything she was learning was hit and miss. So now I am trying to find out and fill in the gaps. This has been a very tough year for her trying to find a system that works for us and we are still really not settled into one good routine. I am tired of trying so many different curriculum's and not being happy with any of them. ABeka Language has worked quite well for us as it teaches everything in an order. We were using ACE School of Tomorrow paces but I found that they weren't in-depth enough to teach her how to complete the problems. So we switched to ABeka Arithmetic and she is very happy with that and is actually learning and remembering how to do the problems. ABeka History is teaching in order also and we really like that.

I think I am obsessing to much about it all and should probably just relax. But this is a big responsibility and one I don't want to fail at. I'm sure it will all work out in the end and with God's help and lots of prayer, I know we will succeed.

I'm a member of Paperback Swap too. I also recently joined Book Moochie and FrugalReader.com. It's great fun to receive and send books. And the savings isn't bad either.
