My Momma

This is what I wrote and Bro. Billy read for me at the funeral.

A few nights ago I lost the most precious person in my life. My momma was everything to me. She loved me, shared with me, reassured me, protected me and pampered me. My momma loved us three girls and my brother with all her heart. She lived for us. She constantly told us how much she loved being our mother! She was always worrying that she wasn't doing enough for us. She was perfect. She made our life so easy and wonderful. We had a beautiful childhood and she became our best friend in adult hood. I was lucky enough to have a husband who allowed me to live near her for our entire marriage. I was never very far away from my momma in my 52 years. I was her oldest child but she played no favorites. We were all equal in her eyes.

She and daddy had been staying at my home with me and Sissie for the last few months while they were doing some remodeling. Though she had had health problems for the last few years, her sudden death Sunday night was totally unexpected.

" I miss you momma and I am so glad I was here with you at the end. We began my life together and we were together for the end of yours. My heart hurts so much but I know you are happy being with John Jr.. Grand momma and Granddaddy. Thank you momma for loving me so completely. Remember the line in our song we used to sing together by Clay Walker? "I don't want to sleep til I touch your face!" and you would always rub your hand down my cheek? Anytime momma, anytime! I love you so much!"
