A Strange Day

Today has been a long and strange day. Two days ago I had noticed that Bear had picked up a different cough than the one he normally has with his congestive heart failure. This seemed to be a dry hacking cough. So at 7:30 this morning off to the vet we went. I had to leave him there for the tests to be done.

After leaving there we went to the furniture store to wait for them to open and as we were standing there talking to Frankie and Shelby we watched as a single wide mobile home went up in flames, was fully engulfed and on the ground in less than 10 minutes. Gone before the fire dept even arrived. This home was across the street from Mrs. Violet Lesters house. An absolute horror to watch someone lose everything they own.

At the furniture store, Frank looked at both the new stove and the sectional couch. After talking them down another $250 to make the total less than $1,000 he agreed to buy both. So they will both be delivered tomorrow morning.

Back to the vet this afternoon at 3:00 and we find out that Bears heart and lungs are looking surprisingly good. However, due to old age, he has a collapsing trachea. So now we add 2 more meds to his daily routine. It will never be cured but can be eased off with a medicine called Tremedor. Dr. Esler did x-rays and said that it should be a lot better in a week and in the meantime Children's Robitussin should help also. I can already see a difference just after one dose of the Tremedor. He in right now under our blanket and sleeping comfortably. So now we are on complete round the clock meds and trying to not let him get too excited.

So now we are home and in our warm cozy home, knowing another night in the low 20's tonight, so glad we are all home and safe.
