Feeling somewhat better...

I've been trying to rest like the dr. said for me to do but sometimes there are things that just have to be done. I started the new medication she put me on and whoa! does it make me feel nauseous! So I will have to call her about that. The heat hasn't helped any. Yesterday we were one degree shy of breaking a record. Just imagine what August is going to be like.

Well it's back to the vet with Bear today. Poor thing just cannot go to long without the allergies. The allergies lead to itching which leads to the infection. They put him on a new med last month but the dosage was way to high and all he did was sleep for three days. Scared me bad. So the dr. lowered the dosage and apparently it was too low. Maybe today we will be able to figure it out.

Today Mimi and I start the 2007-08 school year. We've got everything ready to go and she seems really anxious to get started. Truckerdaddy is on vacation this week but Mimi already had her week off for this month.

We are starting with a unit study on Stonehenge. She has been asking me about it alot lately so we decided to make it our first unit. We will continue our studies on the solar system from last year and focus first on the planets and their differences from each other. Math will start with fractions and English will pick back up where we left off on Parts of Speech. She has four notebooking projects planned this year with three months given to work on each.

The one she is most excited about is the one she titled "Mimi's Fact Book" Instead of focusing on one certain subject she will be doing different pages of things around the world that interest only her.

Of course we will also continue reading, handwriting practice and Bible memory verses. We are splitting our days up to where we are only going to focus on four subjects a day and then if she wants to do extra she won't feel so overwhelmed. She seems more excited about it this year than ever.

We already have our first two field trips planned. The first one will be one that Truckerdaddy is excited about. He wants to take her to the President's museum down in Clermont. So as soon as we start studying about those we will make the trip. The second one is to the Railroad museum in Parrish. She isn't as interested in trains like I am but she is wanting to go see this. I collect photos of abandoned locomotives from the 30's to the 70's and she has really showed an interest in those. She says when she looks at a picture of one she gets sad because it looks like it has feelings. I don't know if she is going to want to study them or just go on the trip for fun. I won't push too hard because she has to see enough of them already with all the videos and photos of them I have.

These are some of the photos that I like:

But these following photos are the ones she thinks are so sad and I agree.

Headed to the scrap yard...

And the one she thinks is the saddest in our entire collection is this one:

Anyway that just about sums it up for now. I will post again for tomorrow with my weight loss (or gain) update. Take care!
