Is Anybody Happier Because You Passed His Way?
Is anybody happier because you passed his way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to him today?
The day is almost over, and its toiling time is through;
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight, in parting with the day that's slipping fast,
That you helped a single brother of the many that passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said;
Does the man whose hopes were fading, now with courage look ahead?
Did you waste the day, or lose it? Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say,
"You have earned one more tomorrow by the work you did today".

I first read this poem many years ago, and over time like other things, this just slipped to the back of my mind. I had not thought about it in a long time. But Saturday, I had a situation that caused it to come to the front.
In most situations I tend to try to "smooth" things over. I don't want any more conflict than is absolutely necessary. Having been diagnosed and living with both depression and Anxiety disorder, you find that the less stress and conflict in your daily life is the best way to cope. So I tend to go out of my way to avoid situations and or people that can cause me any upset.
I wasn't so lucky Saturday, as I crossed paths with someone who spoke before they thought. (it makes me feel a little better to believe they didn't actually think first) This person said something to me that hurt me so deeply inside that I am having a hard time letting it go. As I was walking away this poem came to me and kept repeating itself. And though it didn't make me feel much better, it made me realize just how quickly your words can cut . I think one of the reasons I am having a hard time letting go is because I know that this person will go on with life never knowing the hurt that they caused and maybe even do the same to someone else. On top of that, this person (who is an LEO (No I wasn't being arrested or in trouble) and EMT) works with people on a first hand basis everyday. So having good people skills should be a must. I know God has a reason for everything and maybe this was his way of telling me that I had misspoke to someone lately and didn't realize it. Maybe I need to reevaluate the way I speak to others. This will definitely make me more conscious of what I say to others. I've said a prayer for this person, now I will work on letting it go.
Yesterday was moving day! Not for us but for Laramie (Mimi's horse) We have been boarding her at a farm about 45 minutes from us. So yesterday we finally got everything done and ready for her and got her moved to our property (about 6 mins from where we live) so now we can go everyday. I was a little afraid the move would upset her but she seemed to love her new home. I don't think I have ever seen her so perked up and curious. She was prancing around like a queen. I took pics and will get them ready and post some of them.
Well it's off to my round of morning news programs. Truckerdaddy and I have this ritual everyday to see who can come up with the best and oddest news story of the day. He logs quite a few hours behind the wheel so he listens to a lot of different radio stations and at the end of the day we play "I bet you didn't hear this one...". He gets a kick out of trying to stump me cause I am an avid news junkie, and the debates we often have are great. So I have got to stay on top of my game!
